This area is still under construction.  We would welcome photos of Custer and Hill City.

Custer, South Dakota, about six miles south of the park, is the closest community to The Custer State Park Highway #87/89 west entrance.  The town of about 1860 population offers two grocery stores, numerous campgrounds, RV parks, motels and restaurants.  You can find internet access at the library and at two cafes on the main street, Mt. Rushmore Road.

Hill City, South Dakota, about ten miles north of the park,  is the next closest town to the park's west entrance.  Hill City, population about 2000, offers motels, shops, restaurants and campgrounds similar to those found in Custer.  In addition Hill City hosts a rock climbing instruction and guide service.
